New Confidential Data Center

New Carlisle, Indiana

Our Impact:

A partnership with a confidential data center client provided iENG the opportunity to demonstrate innovation and a multi-dimensional approach to design and equipment resources across two facilities in New Carlisle, Indiana. Each building is approximately 216,000 square feet and divided into 12 operational areas.

Both facilities were designed with owner-furnished air handling units, with iENG providing industrial water (IW) piping to support cooling at each unit. iENG’s scope also included split system air conditioners for each electrical room and fuel oil piping systems. These systems incorporated a premanufactured fuel oil pump house and fuel oil storage tanks designed to serve 27 backup generators per building.

A key aspect of the project was the implementation of repeatable prefabrication strategies to streamline both detailing and installation. iENG developed a structured workflow process that defined criteria, budget considerations, VDC roles and responsibilities, and overall coordination strategies to support consistent execution across both buildings.

As part of this approach, iENG designed and built two pump and piping skids within the mechanical rooms to reduce overhead piping, allowing improved coordination with fire protection and electrical systems. For the second building, iENG also fabricated pipe stands around the fuel oil pump enclosure and storage tank to further streamline installation.
